Writing and Editorial

I have been writing voluntarily and professionally for almost ten years.

From local papers to gaming websites, the section below of my portfolio showcases several articles I have written and edited throughout my career.

Bath Spa University

A large part of my role at Bath Spa University is to write news articles showcasing our incredible community of staff, students and alumni.

Below, I have selected four of my favourite articles from my time at BSU, but many more can be found on the 'News' section of the website.

RealSport101 + VideoGamer

In 2021 I joined RealSport as a writer, my first full-time role in the industry. After overseeing the launch of Football Manager 2022, I transitioned into becoming the social media manager, whilst also maintaining my writing responsibilities.

I produced hundreds of articles for RealSport101 across my time with the company, covering evergreen, guide, news and features across a multitude of categories.

After I left the company, I was asked to assist with the release of Football Manager 2024 for Videogamer, writing their review and a number of articles around the game.

ITFC Hub

As part of a University assignment, I started ITFC Hub, a website based around my hometown club, Ipswich Town.

The project grew and gained a steady following, with my writing style and understanding of the game developing throughout my time running the website.

I produced a number of varied content types and invited contributors to be a part of the project. Despite it being an example of some very early work, I am including it in this portfolio to showcase my development but also my desire to create something of genuine value.

My exposure to sports writing started here and I never really looked back.

Submissions, EADT

Writing my column gave me the confidence to pursue other writing ventures in my local community.

As part of the 'your posts' scheme created by the East Anglian Daily Times, I have had three submissions published on their website and I was fortunate enough to have one piece published in the local newspaper. It was my first piece published in print and gave me real confidence in my ability as a writer.

For some time, I also penned a weekly column for an Ipswich Town fansite, which has since ended. Alongside my studies, this writing time was the most valuable and tangible experience I had in the field.
