I started at RealSport101 in October 2021, initially as a Football Manager Writer.
After three months, I took the lead on their social media channels and never looked back.
Whilst I eventually made the switch to Editor-at-Large, I consider RealSport101 to be the place where I truly found my voice and established my professional, efficient and creative style.
Skills Obtained
Content Management
My role at RS allowed me to create, maintain and track evergreen, guide and feature content.
I developed my efficient and personable writing style in the role, taking charge of content both written and digital.
My role was vital in creating a new stream of readership for the site, with over 3 Million website link clicks being generated on social media in 2022.
Ideation and SEO Research
Whether I was leading on the Football Manager category, or ideating content for Social Media, I have always been driven by data, trends and my own creative beliefs.
I am a strong believer that all content should hold value to the reader or viewer and this belief allowed me to grow major categories on-site, as well as create a strong digital presence for RealSport101.
Thanks to my Editor at Large role, I also understand what it takes to create an SEO perfect article.
Deadline Management
Working in the journalism field allowed me to develop a reactive mindset.
I am used to covering breaking news stories and understand what it takes to work to deadlines and meet - and exceed - KPIs.
This role also allowed me to develop a more confident management style, helping others develop their own writing and SEO knowledge when first arriving at the company.
Voice Over
As part of my Social Media Manager role, I grew the website's TikTok account from 14,000 to over 90,000 in the space of 10 months.
As part of this, I would research, write and provide the voice-over for all of our video content, many of which went viral.
I also launched our Twitch channel, which was a success in its short period of existence. The channel quickly grew to 2,000 followers and created a new revenue stream for the site.
Achievements
My time with RealSport101 challenged me to adapt and quickly develop my skills.
That being said, I am proud to have maintained my reputation as a writer alongside majorly growing the website's digital brand.
